HTC Evo: The Best Damn Phone I’ve Ever Used.

Editor’s Note:  This is another guest post from Jeffery Williams, who was the REASON we were able to cover WWDC today.

The other day, Scott Merrill gave us his first impressions of the HTC Evo on Sprint’s 4G network.  I got it on launch day and I’m absolutely loving it.

United Tech Guys was covering the Apple WWDC conference today, and do you know why that is?  It’s because I was there, transmitting updates and images to Brad from my Evo.  Most of those tweets originated from information I was transmitting instantly with this insanely fast phone.  Also keep in mind that I was heavily using this device all day, and didn’t have any battery issues whatsoever.

If you’re ready to switch to a real phone, you need the HTC Evo.

Apple’s Future Vision Of The Web Promotes Open Standards, If You Use Safari That Is.

Editor’s Note: Michael Cooter is a network security engineer, as well as the writer of a great new Android-focused blog, Android Goodness.  In this guest post, he discusses how Apple’s views of web standards contradict their actions.

Apple’s presentation of “HTML 5 and Open Standards” has come under heavy criticism because Apple claims to promote open standards yet the HTML demos will only work with Safari.   Read more of this post

Hide Your Facebook Status From Specific Friends

Editor’s Note: This great guest post was written by Jeffery Williams, owner of Williams Tech Consulting in San Francisco.

Have you ever been in the situation where you wanted to post a status update, but didn’t want everyone on your friend list to see it?  Because of social pressure, there are certain people with whom we cannot just reject friendship on Facebook.  If you’re in that scenario, you will find this little underused Facebook feature very useful.   Read more of this post

A new set of screenshots has been released to tempt MGS fans about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid:  Peace Walker for PSP to be released in the US very soon.

Among these screenshots are Paz in a bikini and Master Miller in a pair of briefs.  Fanservice for guys and girls, I guess?

Paypal Email: A Phishing Scam

Editor’s Note: The following guest article was written by Bob Meyers, the primary forum moderator of Friendtown.

Back in 2008, I received an email from an email address that I thought belonged to PayPal, but it was actually a phishing scam.  Just the other day, I received another email, identical to the previous one (I know because I made a forum post documenting it)!  Do not, I repeat, DO NOT provide any information to the senders of this email.  It will not be used for legitimate purposes.   Read more of this post

Google Chrome Now Working With Windows 7

Editor’s Note: As the author of this post mentioned, he wasn’t sure when this change happened, but from what I’ve heard it wasn’t recent.

For the longest time, I’ve been a fan of Google Chrome.  Of course, a few months ago I upgraded my Windows Vista machine to Windows 7 only to find that Google Chrome wasn’t compatible with it.  After a while of using Firefox, I tried Chrome again yesterday and it worked!  I don’t know when they fixed it, as I can’t seem to find anything online, but they did, and I’m so happy to be using the fastest browser available again!
