How to Use Gmail with Windows Mail

If you use Gmail, it can be frustrating when you need to access an email offline, but can’t.  In this tutorial, I’ll show you a very easy way to use Gmail in your Windows Mail email client.

1)  Open Windows Mail.  Go to Tools > Accounts.

Click Add.

Select “Email Account” and then click Next.

Type in your display name.  This is what people will see when they receive an email from you.  Click Next.

Type in your preexisting Gmail email address, then click Next.

Set everything exactly the way it is set in the screenshot above, then click Next.

Enter your Gmail username and password, then click Next.

Check the box that says “Do no download my email and folders at this time,” and click Finish.

Go to Tools > Accounts.  Select, and click Properties.

Go to the Advanced tab and set everything exactly as it is in the screenshot below.

Then click Apply.

At this point, you are done and you can start downloading your email and folders!
